Lucerne Valley Homepage Setup

Most Premium and Business accounts are provided with a Free Website area where you can publish your homepage. There are literally hundreds of programs that will assist in creating and publishing your site. You will need to learn the procedures suitable for your homepage building software program. We are not familiar with those programs that we do not use; don't get upset if we can't help you with it.

The basic procedure consists of creating and saving the page or pages of information you want to publish. Then transfer copies of the pages, including images and other files needed to the web server.

For creating your page we recommend starting with Microsoft's Frontpage Express. It is a free program usually available at the Microsoft download site or here. It is very easy to learn to use. We are familiar with this program and can provide you with some basic help and support. If you need a hand installing it we suggest you give us a call.

For transferring your site to our server we recommend WS-FTP/Pro or the free version, FreeFTP. The following information should assist you in getting you connected for uploading.

Any other fields are optional. Be sure all files are uploaded into the public_html folder on the remote server so they will be available for viewing with a browser. Your opening page should be named index.htm or index.html in order for it to open automatically.
From a browser your page will be located at: www.lucernevalley.net/~username and www.sisp.net/~username
(the '~' character is called a tilde and is usually just to the left of the exclamation mark on most keyboards)
