Our main business is selling young showpig
prospects to FFA/4H members to raise and take to the local County
Fair. They compete in classes and sell their market hogs in the
Junior Livestock Auction.
The second branch of the business is
selling feeder pigs (about 60 lbs.) to families to raise themselves to
produce pork for their own freezers.
The 3rd branch of the business is to
produce young boars and gilts to people that want to produce their own
feeder or show pigs.
Craig earned the American FFA Degree in
1982, the highest degree a FFA'r can earn. He attended Cal Poly
Pomona and worked on the University Beef and Swine units. He served
as President of the Farmhouse Fraternity Pomona chapter in 1984. He
judged on the Livestock Judging and Meat Animal Evaluation teams. He
graduated in 1985 with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Animal Science
and Agriculture Science (Education). He taught Agriculture at the
High School level for 12 years and served as FFA Chapter Advisor. He
also taught Junior High for one year.
We belong to the National Swine Registry
and raise Registered Durocs, Yorkshires and Hampshires. We buy
breeding stock from the Midwest and use AI to improve our own herd and
the quality of pigs we produce. We practice good biosecurity to
maintain a healthy sow herd and to sell healthy feeder and show
pigs.
We assist in pig selection, facility
design, and provide guidance in feeding and management of show pig
projects. We can recommend Feeds, equipment and veterinarians.
We have a good herd health program. New
herd additions are blood tested before entering the herd. We have a
good vaccination and worming program.
We are always available by phone or e-mail
to answer questions or to help solve problems if they should
arise.
